RESOLVE EMOTIONAL CONTRETEMPS FROM POLY LOVE-INS by Sasha Lessin, Ph.D.

I’m reading an advanced copy of “Gaia and the New Politics of Love: Notes for a Poly Planet”, by Serena Anderlini, who was one of our keynoters at the 2007 World Polyamory Association Harbin Polyamory Conference. I’m in awe.

Serena’s new book’s is a polemic that can shake the world into loving survival, and I’ll have lots more to say about it in future posts. Right now, I abridge a couple of paragraphs to give you a feel for this stirring manifesto:

“Bi and poly ogies are emotionally connecting orgies: orgies of oxytocin where a symbiotic energy prevails; where the spasm of turgidity dissolves in ecstatic duration....The combined practice of bi and poly love empowers individual players to consciously navigate its flow and become consensually immersed in the movement of the symbiotic energy generated by our aural, astral and physical bodies at play.

“When both bi and poly paradigms function together in the orgy flow, No one has control over what develops, yet all trust that it will not destroy what is already in place; no one presumes exclusivity, yet all are aware of possible temporary exclusions ensuing from developing bonds and relationships....Emotions become manifest as sexual and erotic play.

“The correspondence between the emotional and erotic realms enables players to maximize the love energy they share.... and enable the creation of networks of emotional sustainability that result in symbiotic plateaus of enhanced awareness. These plateaus involve crises that manifest at certain points in the network whose collective management can productively turn them into opportunities for deeper levels of symbiosis [and] move the entire network on a higher level of awareness that enables more focused and productive experiments in the management of shared emotional resources ...The network unctions like a sustainable ecosystem for all these interpersonal energies. It creates sustainablity, balance and of resources for all involved.”

The success of poly orgies–we call them love-ins–as growth machines depends upon successful management of the emotions evoked in the flow of the sexualloving. What we in the Lessin Pod use as our management paradigm after our love-ins is a gestalt/centering encounter the next morning. Each participant takes a turn expressing unfinished emotional business, appreciations, learning from the love-in.

Any unfinished encounters are completed using Voice Dialogue bonding resolution below.

I tell each person with unresolved emotions from the love-in to take a turn and tell them:

Let where you’re sitting be the position for your Center, where you hear all your inner voices.

Recall, then tell me when you felt pain, fear, insecurity as we related to [I name the other person involved in the unresolved emotional situation].

Say how you and s/he interacted in parent/child ways.

What bothered you about how s/he acted in relation to you?

Move to a cushion from which you'll roleplay him/her. Pretend you're him/her.; roleplay him/her.. Exaggerate what s/he said or did. Say what you, as him/her, fear, think and suspect.

Now move to a cushion where you'll be yourself in relation to him/her.

Respond to me as yourself again and say more than you already said to him/her; say how you feel toward him/her. Express your feelings, irrational thoughts and impulses; exaggerate your feelings; express more.

Now return to your original cushion, the Center.

[When the person moves, say,] Say what vulnerabilities--feelings of insecurity, fear, hurt--you and s/he activate in each other.

How does he/she represent a disowned voice for you?

Describe your relation with him/her in parent-child terms. Expand what you said before about how you and s/he shift between enacting parent and child roles vis-a-vis each other.

In what ways does the pattern you've described with him/her re-create part of the pattern you had with the people who raised you or a brother or sister?

Stand behind me now, facing the seat in which you enacted voice within you that you projected on him/her. Maintain neutrality; observe objectively. As I review the main things you said in the disowned voice, sense its energy ### [I Summarize what person said.]

Now return from standing in the Witness position to the seat for your Center.

How can you, Center, nourish your vulnerable, Inner Child without stifling your other voices?

How can you integrate the disowned voices the other person represented into your life?

Consider a tantric poly (= polyamorous--loving two or more) lifestyle where you share tantra–sacred sex. A polytantric lifestyle. We’ve considered it and we live it. We advocate it as an option for all.

We’ve explored on our own and heard thousands of poly-loving and tantric people. We’ve shared experiences and led scores of alternate relationship and sacred sex conferences and seminars. In our seminars, we’ve used humanistic and transpersonal psychology as well as tantric meditation to explore multi-lover relating to aid our spiritual synergy.

Many couples today explore polyamory and swinging. Ever-increasing droves of people flock to conferences, new clubs, websites, private "lifestyle" and "playcouple" activities all over the world.

Most paired-up people who swing or love in a polyamorous triad or moresome enhance their erotic and romantic connection with each other. Some couples, however, seek the lifestyle for the wrong reason–to fix their dysfunctional relationships. In such couples, rather than improve their sour relating, polyamory or swapping may trigger breakups. But most pairs who sample polyamory or the lifestyle deepen their love and intimacy with each other when they love others.
Genetic tests show most humans’ actual behavior is not sexually exclusive with monogamous mates. Our sexual behavior resembles that of our genetically closest primate, the chimp-like Bonobos. Like Bonobos, we couple with multiple partners, though unlike Bonobos, who openly copulate in front of their sexual partners, humans more often hide their non-monogamous coupling from sight and knowledge of their mates. Such hiding reduces the intimacy of relating between the cheater and his or her mate.
Most humans are actually covertly polysexual (more than one sexual partner), while only some, albeit a swelling number, are overtly polyamorous (one than one love in their life).
Most of us keep loving lovers even after we or they end our sexual connection. I love everyone I’ve ever loved and most people who come to me for therapy continue loving those they've loved in their lives.
Our hearts open and we love those we make love with, especially if we regularly enjoy sex with them. We fall in love with people with whom we share sex. We humans--male or female--develop affection, warmth, desire to enjoy one another time and again when we make love over and over with each other. We naturally bond. We love.
Society’s realizing the falseness of old beliefs, beliefs like the belief that most of us are faithfully monogamous or the belief that you can have sex without becoming fond of your lovers. Instead, as the growing polyamorous and lifestyle couples attest, We all have a huge capacity to love and enjoy sex. Many of us are more than able to love many and have tons of sex at the same time. I learned by making love with others while I’m still in love with my husband that I’m ever more turned-on to lovemaking.
Many people nowadays stop connecting sexually with their spouses. I’m a counselor. At least ten times a week couples complain they don't make love anymore. Why? Do we simply get bored with one another? Are we angry? Resentful? I know from my own past and the experiences of those I counsel, that partners who still live together but don't connect sexually with each other still love each other. They panic when they consider leaving no-sex spouses who used to make love with them, because they still love them. They’re friends, comfortable with one another. They mix finances and perhaps raise children together. They know and love each other’s relatives; they share friends and interests together. They don’t want to lose what they’ve built. They don’t want to sell their homes, divide their holdings. So many reasons to stay together, crazy to part just because they stopped sharing sex with each other or because they love others.
Counseling helps non-sexual couples open to sex with each other again. Tantra can also help rekindle their desire; I highly recommend it. But what really enthuses a couple to juicy sex with each other is swinging or polyamory. Couples return home to each other, turned-on from their erotic encounters with others and screw each other’s brains out for days. When they f*ck like minks, chemicals flow, they feel close and feel again in love with each other.
I used to be on the polyamory-only bandwagon. But after intensely studying the swinger movement for the past nine years, I see they’re onto something. A strange piece of ass, watching your partner with someone else, touching two or three people at the same time, doing more than one at a time, breaking taboos, or stretching beyond your own boundaries turns people on.
Sure, there’s jealousy. That’s also human nature. We can use, then get over jealousy. Hang in there with your jealousy, ride it, experience it, feel it, talk it out and never make yourself or your lovers wrong about their feelings and soon you laugh seek sexual adventures together. Like explorers, or hunters on the prowl, together you’ll discuss who’s attractive, what’s attractive and actually be able to act on attractions if you chose.
I suggest couples trying polyamory or swinging stay together as they explore other loves. That’s what works the best for us. If you’re at all insecure, it can be harder for you to relax when your partner goes offstage with another lover, easier if you all share loving in each others’ view and, even better, co-participate. Couples who watch and share each others’ excitement build ever-more desire for each other.
Swinging may be too far out for some of us. Living together with more than one mate may be just as far out for others. A few couples whom we see regularly is the poly lifestyle that works best for Sash and me. I like getting to know new lovers on a very deep level and can do this living separately. Living with anyone but Sasha is hard for me; I get anxious with too many people around all the time. I’m a private person, need privacy, peace and quiet. So living apart and loving together now and again is fine with me.
Of course there’s a time for many to be monogamous for parts of their lives. I’ve done it and enjoyed it–for awhile. Though some folks are even happily monogamous all their lives, few love and want sex only with one person their entire lives. We may be mono (one), amorous (loving) part our lives. But cultural conditioning makes many of us continue monogamously despite the death of sex in the monogamous relationship and despite the fact that we have non-monogamous fantasies, desires and affairs. I have friends who fear losing face if peers knew they considered multi-lover intimacy.
However, if we humans are truthful, at least to ourselves in our own hearts, we are going to have to admit, one and all, that we have feelings and attractions for many, many people in the course of our lives. And when we get to that point, where we’re real with ourselves, than perhaps we can begin to forgive those who do what we dare not, and quit being so sanctimonious. Instead of shaming our politicians and celebrities, realize human nature. Bill and Hillary Clinton are probably in an open marriage. Bill just got careless. If they could talk truth, we’d progress light years.
Using modern DNA testing, we found 99.9% of all the species are non-monogamous. Our genetic cousins, the Bonobos practice polyamory, swinging and bisexual sex. We’re similar. Hospitals using DNA tests find many a dad on the birth certificate isn't the biological father.
Polyamory’s a high spiritual practice. So’s swinging. One swing club in Northern Washington State has a Goddess Ritual where a woman takes on all comers. She seats herself on a swing chair with an endless supply of condoms and the men line up out the door. Some women have been known take on 40 or 50 men during this ritual. She ends up in an enlightened, altered state of consciousness.
Besides being a high spiritual practice and very sexy, being polyamory and couple playing are fun. Cut lose and play as you might have when you were a kid playing outside on a hot Summer eve. When you’re all careful about STD’s and respectful, honest, courteous, kind, loving and playful with one another, you can make love in a puppy puddle with the same abandon you had when you were little playing football, wrestling or King of the Mountain. Poly’s fun.

HONOR THE WOMEN IN YOUR POLY POD by Sasha Lessin, Ph.D.

Here's one of the ways we play with our group of intimate lovers. We suggest you try it with yours. PolyWannabes, create group, rehearse. Let us know how your Honor the Goddess group goes.

Give yourself an evening for each woman, or a whole day to do each
woman in your lovegroup. Then let us on this site share our results
and develop love rituals from our collective sharing.

In a beautiful, peaceful, private space, gather the women in your
poly pod.

Ask one woman to volunteer as the first focus of this pattern. Each
woman takes a turn as the group's focus.

PREPARE YOURSELF AND THE SPACE FOR WOMAN WORSHIP

Givers, clean your nails. Brush your teeth afresh. If you're male
and clean-shaven, shave again; if you've a beard, shampoo it.

Dress to please the Receiver. Find food, drink, flowers and music
she'll like. Arrange the room to delight and relax her. Create a
large, padded lovenest. Place water, towels, massage oil and
internal lubricant next to the bed. Invite her to bathe while you
disconnect phones and adjust the lighting and music.

When she returns from the bath, each of you meet her gaze. Make eye-
contact with her as you adore her together.

Each of you say, in your own words--but poetic ones,"I appreciate
this opportunity to please and replenish you.

"May we undress you and see your body?" As you do, laud her looks
aloud. Then all of you disrobe too.

DEDICATE TOUCH TO PERSONAL AND UNIVERSAL HEALING

Invite her to lie down. Touch your right palms to her heart and put
her right hand on your heart. Rest your left hands on the back of
her right and tell her to put her left on the hands you rest on her
heart. Look into her left eye.

Tell her, in your own words, "We delight in serving you. We love
relating this intimately. May our adoration heal hurts we caused
you. May our hearts unite. Come dance with us, your devotees. Dear
Shakti, dance at the Shrine of the Yoni Nadi. There, together, we
transcend our separate self-senses and join the divine dance of the
cosmos."

"What words, "ask her, "have you to consecrate the worship we offer
your Inner Aphrodite, your loving, sensual, sexual self.? *** [Give
her time to answer.]

MASSAGE MADONNA

Then say, "May we massage you?"

As she stretches out on her belly, tug her toes. Rub her soles and
the backs of each leg. Do her fingers, palms, arms. Then massage
her back and her bottom.

Help her turn over. Dance your fingers over the tops of her feet and
hands, the front of her arms and legs. Brush her labia and nipples
as you glide your hands over her torso. Massage her face and head.

Stroke and knead the muscles inside the leg; Kneed the inside of her
legs, where they insert into her pelvis. Press your fingers deep
into the muscles above her pubic bone.

GET CONSENT TO TOUCH HER TEMPLE

Ask her to designate one of you to touch her Love Temple.

CONNECT ALL HER CHAKRAS WITH SACRED SECTOR ENERGY

All present lay hands on her. The person she chooses, her Giver,
rests their left hand on her HEART.

Giver, hold your right hand over her yoni. Imagine you send her a
beam of love from your eyes into her left eye. Breathe together
three times; then settle your hand on her mons.

Tell her, "I love you. Feel our hearts connect and energy vibrate
between us.

"I send you love as I breathe out; breathe it in, inhale my love."
The rest of the group breathes with the Giver and Receiver. Exhale,
then draw your navel back toward your spine and up. Tighten your
pubococcygeal and anal sphincter muscles.

Imagine, Giver, you send energy up your spine from your tailbone,
through your heart and out your right hand into her yoni. When you
inhale, feel the energy you have sent her move through her heart into
your left hand. Take at least three breaths where you send this
circuit of energy.

Keep your right hand on her yoni, your eyes on hers. Move your left
hand to her CROWN. Tell her you invite the Goddess of Love to enter
her crown and move through her central channel to her yoni-shrine.
Breathe together three times.

Move your left hand to her BROW, THROAT, BELLY and BASE chakras. For
each, take three breaths. Eye-gaze and imagine you connect with her
brow, throat, heart (again), then belly, perineal and sexual
chakras. Conclude these chakra meditations (mudras) with your left
hand again on her heart.

STROKE HER SACRED SECTOR

Tell your Receiver, "Relax on your back, Sweetheart. Breathe deeply.

"Let each of us gaze into your eyes.

If you like, I'll massage, then kiss your genital drapes and the
valence over your pearl.

If she says consents, say, "Make sounds and direct us with words;
give us feedback while I lick and stroke."

Stroke her outer labia. Roll her clitoral hood around the
clitoral crown; but don't stimulate the crown yet. When her outer
vaginal lips swell, revealing the inner lips, trace circles, spirals,
horizonals, verticals, diagonals, and figure-eights on them with your
fingers. Alternate long, short, inventive, sensitive and playful
strokes. Tap, knead and pinch the hood and labia ten or fifteen
minutes.

When the inner labia also become quite swollen with blood,
say, "Would you like me to polish your pearl?" (pearl = clitoral
crown). If yes, honor her yoni with your mouth and tongue. Blow on
her genitals. Plant baby kisses on her clitoris. Twill your tongue
round the crown and lick her labia. Lap into her yoni as you
continue gazing into her eyes. Salivate generously; lubricate the
orifice.

After twenty to thirty minutes honoring her yoni, say, "I'd like to
enter your sacred cave with this (right ring) finger." If she
agrees, lick your finger so it's quite moist (or use an internal
lubricant like Probe or neem oil). Place the tip of your ring finger
pad just inside her vaginal opening. Say, "Pull my finger in."

When you feel her vaginal muscles pulsing on your finger, let her
pull your finger into her cave. Curl your finger pad inside her yoni
toward her navel then back toward her inner legs, so it rests on her
sacred sector. Breathe together and keep your hand still for ten
deep breaths while you imagine that your finger reaches inside her to
her heart.

Begin a light "come here" motion with your ring finger; let the pad
of your finger caress the tissue that covers the sacred sector.
Trace, in thirty to forty strokes, the inner surface of the top and
upper front of her cave from cervix toward the top of her cave's
opening.

Then, for forty strokes or so, turn your wrist from side to side.
Trace a crescent over the sacred sector with your finger pad.

Sweep (turn your wrist from up to down) the left half of her cave.
Skim the front of your right ring finger from the cave roof to its
floor and outside door. Remove your right ring finger and insert
your left ring finger inside her yoni. With your left ring finger,
stroke the right half of the yoni roof.

After a few minutes, change your position to ease your back and
neck. Withdraw your left ring finger from her cave, and put your
right ring finger back in. Rub, tap, and touch all over inside her
cave. Stroke different levels of pressure, depths, speeds and
rhythms. Trace the throbbing veins and, deeper, arteries. Press to
the bone in each part of her cave.

After fifteen minutes, say, "Would you like one of us to pet you with
two fingers inside?" If she consents, curl the underside of your
right middle and ring fingers together along the roof-beam of her
yoni. Move your fingers down the transom over the door and out the
yoni, with a "come here" motion.

Then focus your fingers inside her on her sacred sector. You can
feel it through the inner vaginal wall, between the wall and the
pubic bone, above the orifice. The sector feels like a bean-sized
lump that may grow to silver-dollar size as you stroke it.

Initially, when her sector's stimulated, she may think (though she's
just emptied her bladder she needs to urinate. Let her try to do so
until no urine comes out.

Unite your fingers through her lower abdomen. Press your left hand
down on her lower belly just above the pubic bone. Feel her spot
swell between these fingers on her abdomen and those in her vagina.

If you find menstrual blood on your fingers, let her know you
treasure this intimacy. Dab some on each of your chests and thank
her.

The Receiver may enjoy all the touching. Some Receivers feel
indifferent to sacred sector massage at first. Most women, however,
savor some sacred spot stroking. Remember your Receiver's pleasure
points.

If you try this exercise, or something like it, please share on this
site what you tried and how it turned out.

I have been curious about this lifestyle for some time, but never actually ventured beyond thinking. But, as i am entering the 'mature' phase of my life, I figure what the heck. I think life is so rich with different people and viewpoints that it seems a shame to not take a look. I am not particularly interested in snapshots of your nether regions-hell, by now we all should have a fair idea of what that is all about and how to use it. More interested in folks who can think on their own two feet and take a genuine interest in the natural world around them.
I do not know the terms that are often bandied about in poly discussions, they seem a bit overlapping to some extent, but interested in learning. I would welcome hearing from any of you that might care to drop by. Thanks. drum

Life after fifty, what it is? what are its requirements, the boundaries and periphery, bound and restrictions which are to imposed by on one's own self. Is it that a person who is 50 or beyon should sieze to dream of a better life? stop dreaming to have new friends? Is it a crime to crave for young friends? should age be bar against aspiration of simple clean friendship with either sex.
